Biography

The young Israeli singer/songwriter Noa Babayof is rapidly establishing a presence on the new international folk scene. her debut album From A Window To A Wall was recently recorded and mixed by renowned Greg Weeks (The Espers) at his studio in Philadelphia and is set for a US/European release in spring 2008 on Weeks’ new analog recording label Language of Stone .

From A Window To A Wall features lush string arrangements backing up Noa’sarresting singing style, which has been compared to such icons as Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell. ‘From a Window to A Wall’ was released in Israel in fall 2007 by Anova, and was supported by a concert tour across Israel accompanied by a strings  section.

Noa Babayof began playing piano at an early age, but switched to guitar and songwriting after discovering the magic of the Beatles, Dylan and Joni Mitchell during her teenage years. She continued her musical studies for two years at Israel’s Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music, and during that time began to solidify her own personal writing style, which can be described as a combination between traditional folk singing and trends in today’s alt-folk scene. She counts as her musical influences folk music greats - Baez, Mitchell and Dylan, together with modern stars like The Espers, Diane Cluck and Smog.
